Aurahi Solar PV Project

The Aurahi Solar PV Project is a 5 MW (5,000 kW AC) grid-connected solar power plant located in Aurahi, Mahottari, Nepal. Developed to harness Nepal's abundant solar resources, the project contributes clean and renewable electricity to the national grid while supporting the country's transition toward sustainable energy. With a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) capacity of 5,000 kW, the plant is designed to deliver reliable power generation throughout the year.

Situated in a region that receives an average solar irradiation of 4.78 kWh/m²/day and an annual insolation of 1,747.97 kWh/m², the project benefits from favorable climatic conditions for solar energy production. These natural advantages enable the plant to generate approximately 10.06 million kWh of electricity annually, providing enough clean energy to support thousands of households and businesses while reducing dependence on conventional fossil fuel-based electricity generation.

The project operates with a Capacity Utilization Factor (CUF) of 22.97%, reflecting its efficient system design, high-quality photovoltaic modules, and optimized energy conversion performance. As a grid-connected facility, all generated electricity is supplied directly to Nepal's national electricity network, helping strengthen grid stability and improve the availability of renewable energy across the country.

Financially, the Aurahi Solar PV Project is supported by a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) rate of NPR 5.21 per kWh, resulting in an estimated annual revenue of approximately NPR 5.24 crore. This stable revenue model ensures long-term commercial viability while promoting investment in Nepal's renewable energy sector. Beyond its economic benefits, the project also contributes to reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy security, and supporting Nepal's long-term sustainable development and clean energy goals.
