SUNLIGHT RENEWABLE ENERGY
Sun Light Renewable Energy Private Limited is a Solar Energy manufacturing and development company incorporated in 2022. With a mandate to advance clean energy in Nepal, the company focuses exclusively on the solar and wind energy sectors with an ambition to develop and support 50 MW of Solar PV generating capacity by 2030.
Nepal has experienced continuous growth in electricity demand driven by urbanization, industrial expansion, agricultural modernization, and improved access to energy across rural and urban regions. Although the country possesses significant hydropower potential, seasonal variations in river discharge and increasing demand during dry periods have highlighted the need for diversification of the national energy mix.
In this context, solar energy has emerged as a strategic and sustainable solution to strengthen Nepal’s energy security and support reliable year-round electricity generation. Utility-scale solar photovoltaic (PV) projects offer several advantages including shorter construction periods, lower environmental impact, reduced dependence on imported fossil fuels, and rapid deployment capability.
Current Project Pipeline
The company has secured 15.5 MW of Solar PV projects across Madhesh Province and Lumbini Province, with completion targeted by 2027. The immediate financing need relates to two 5 MW grid-connected solar projects — Aurahi (Mahottari) and Garuda (Rautahat).
